Summer wedding season is upon us and today I am sharing some wedding attire tips and 45 (!) of my favorite wedding guest looks ALL under $100.

  • Dress for the venue.  A beach wedding and a wedding set in a ballroom most likely call for drastically different attire. Take note of what the invitation states about the dress code and follow it.
  • Do not wear white. Do not be that girl. That color is saved for the bride, let her stand out.
  • Wear stylish but also comfortable shoes, so you can dance the night away.
  • Dress stylishly but also err on the side of conservative. You are a guest; do not wear anything too tight, too sexy, or too revealing.

Happy wedding season!

Summer in Chicago is right around the corner and I couldn’t be more ready for it! Today I am sharing a go-to recipe that incorporates light summer flavors and is a great starter to nibble on while meats are sizzling on the grill. Serving this appetizer is the perfect choice for a warm night out on your patio. I like to pair it with a chilled glass of Sauvignon blanc.

Vine Roasted Burrata Bruschetta

adapted from Ina Garten’s Roasted Vine Tomatoes

Ingredients:

  • 3 teaspoons of minced garlic
  • Burrata cheese
  • Baguette of choice

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Place the tomatoes still on the vines (plus any that fall off the vines) on a sheet pan. Rub or brush gently with olive oil and sprinkle generously with kosher salt, pepper, and garlic.

Roast for 15 to 20 minutes, until the tomatoes are tender and a few start to split. Place burrata and tomatoes on a plate.  Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with basil. Serve with grilled toasts drizzled in olive oil.

Enjoy!

1. Chicago Beer Classic

Grab a group of friends and head to Soldier Field on May 6th.  The pours are generous and the pretzel necklaces are a nice touch. This event is a great opportunity to try some new local brews while hanging out at Soldier Field. Tip: Arrive early because the beers do run out toward the end.

2. The Social Table

The Social Table concept located in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood is much more than your average cooking class. It’s dinner party hosted by a chef where you create and share a meal with a group of 10. You are able to choose a menu beforehand (they send you the delish recipes after, too) and bring your own wine or beer of choice. They also have the option of renting the space for parties and small events. It encompasses everything I need for a perfect night! Tip: Sign up for The Social Table email list, and receive alerts when new menus are posted, the dates fill up quickly!

3. Hamilton

This musical based on the life of Alexander Hamilton is showing at PrivateBank Theatre until January 2018.  I have yet to attend, but have heard only positive things! This performance is definitely a splurge, but I’m hoping to score tickets last minute at some point.

4. Paint Nite

This is definitely on my list to do for a fun date night.  I know Dan would be on board for a creative date night if it takes place at a fun spot like Glasscott’s or Pork and Mindy’s. Channel my inner artist?

5. Eric Church

Holdin’ My Own tour is coming to the All State Arena on April 13th. I love Eric Church and it would be a great kick off to country concerts 2017!
